(Resolved) 60.3.3 - Exceptionally Slow Whilst Typing

Just today I upgraded to 60.3.3 and composing mail is painfully slow. I have performed the following actions with the results listed below : Windows safe mode and Thunderbird safe mode - mail seems quick and responsive Windows normal and Thunderbird safe mode - typing is slow and so are menus Windows index service disabled - not made any difference Disable indexing on app data and program folder date (performed before turning of all indexing) - no difference Disable check spelling as typing - slightly better, odd because dictionaries are currently disabled (all addons disabled) Disabled all...

Problem with adding a security exception

I use a remote service (Owndrive on a remote server) to sync my calendar and addressbook. Thunderbird continually notifies me with a warning that the certificate on the server is out of date. When I click to add the security exception Thunderbird goes in to a loop displaying the error continually and will not register it. Can anyone tell me how I can either get Thunderbird to add the exception when I ask it to, or prevent the warning displaying continually. Thanks

Transfer of Outlook Express Emails to Thunderbird

I have just got a new PC using Win 10 after 14 years with Win XP. Having transferred the OE email address book from XP successfully to my Win 10 Thunderbird, I want to transfer the OE emails. I have no clue how to do it, having tried many ways. I am using a Flash Drive for all such transfers. Question ? I need the precise path of the OE emails file on my Win XP Thunderbird to locate and`download onto my Flash Drive. Then I need the precise path of the Win 10 Thunderbird file to drag and drop my downloaded data to. I want the OE emails to appear in my Win 10 Thunderbird the same as they would...

Thunderbird Slows Down To A Crawl When Downloading Msgs

Hello, I have Thunderbird on two setups on my pc, two separately powered, bootable hard disks. Like two pcs, but all same hardware except hard disk. Both are Windows 7 Pro 64 and both have the same problem. When I start to download emails, Thunderbird grabs many per second. But when I get to about 500 emails, it begins to slow down and the more it downloads, the slower it becomes. After downloading about 3000 emails is takes 40 seconds for one email to download. This happens with two different email providers. Both are IMAP interface. I have already tried disabling add-ons. I have tried Silent...

Icons. No text.

In Thunderbird 60.3.2, there are buttons for Show Only Unread Messages, etc. There only icons and no text. You have to hover your mouse over them to find out what the button is for. Is there any way to get text next to the icons?

Thunderbird failed to connect to mail.comcast.net first time

Thunderbird failed to connect to mail.comcast.net first time only, on TB startup only. Just about every time I start TBird, I get the failed msg. clicking Get Messages then gets both gmail and comcast. subsequent auto access (every 5 min or so) work fine. Ubuntu. I believe this started when I shifted from 18.04.1 to 18.10 Ubuntu. Only happens on that first access to comcast. TB 60.2.1 64bit POP account

[SOLVED] Help needed installing Lightning in T-bird 60.3.2

Hi! I just updated a Thunderbird 59.x installation running on Windows 7 (64-bit) to version 60.3.2. Apparently, way back when we installed the "Google Calendar Tab" add-on, so she can access her Google Calendar from within Thunderbird. Since that add-on didn't use Lightning, I must have un-installed Lightning. Now, the "Google Calendar Tab" add-on isn't compatible with Thunderbird 60.3.2 and I can't seem to find a Lightning add-on I can install. So, she's currently without any calendar support in Thunderbird. How can I get Lightning installed in Thunderbird 60.3.2? She has 6 email accounts...

Lightning: can I specify a time span for synchronization?

Hello all, using Lightning in Thunderbird for quite some time, I encountered that it always synchronizes whole calendars. As it does this on every Thunderbird start, the program becomes unresponsible for a significant amount of time, depending on how many calendars there are to be synchronized, and depending on the amount of appointments in these calendars. Other calendar synchronization software (such as gSyncit or OutlookCalDAVSynchronizer) allow specifying a time span for appointments to be synchronized. For example, you can specify that only appointments within several days in the past and...

Imap G mail and SeaMonkey

Over the last 3-4 weeks, every time I open SeaMonkey mail, my Gmail account that has been no problem forever has a popup and asked to "add security exception" for"imap.gmail.com993" and to "Confirm Security Exception" No settings have changed. One day it just started. Has anyone else run into this with SeaMonkey mail? Search found a similar problem with Thunderbird several years back that had to do with Avast. Can't increase image size...hope you can get the idea... Noah W

Cannot start Thunderbird from cron

I've tried all sorts of variants but none work. I have a script to start Thunderbird, & the command in the script almost always works when I enter it into a console. Sometimes I see a 'uncaught exception' flash by before the console window closes, & I suspect this is what's happening when it fails to run from a cron job, though I'm not exactly sure. I have this one minute: Code: Select all pkill -term thunderbird Then this the next minute: Code: Select all exec thunderbird Or I use separate scripts for exit & start, using the same commands in them. But if cron's what starts them the start one...

Delivered emails

A small problem. After a recent update of Thunderbird a strange thing has happened. If I receive an email from someone I already have one from in my inbox the second one is linked to the original. I prefer each email to show independently and not linked to each other. I hope I've explained what I mean. Thanks you.

Single Line Spacing

When I copy and paste formatted text into Thunderbird, the line space is double. Also, when I compose an email and hit "Enter", Thunderbird double spaces. I have gone to Tools/Options/Composition and checked and unchecked the "Use Paragraph format" option. Any thoughts?

Thunderbird 60.3.3 S-L-O-W

Running on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit version 1709. Version 60.3.3 of Thunderbird. PC uses an AMD FX 8350 4.0 GHZ CPU and 8GB RAM. Also using a SSD (Solid State Hard Drive). Commands take 8 seconds to start (yes I timed it). Sometimes if I close Thunderbird and restart it it speeds up. But after a while it becomes slow again. When I click on an action or try to open or delete an email it takes 8-seconds before anything happens. Even if Thunderbird is the only app running. Tis has actually been happening through several versions of Thunderbird. I have tried both the 32 and 64-bit versions of...

Menu bar not displaying correctly in Thunderbird 60.3.2

Since installing the latest update, the end of the menu bar is laying under the page controls at top right, obscuring the Tools and Help items. I can't correct this with the customising options and wonder whether it's a bug or a fault at my end. Any advice would be welcome.
