The Hindenburg’s Smoking Lounge... Quote: The Hindenburg’s smoking room was thus a necessary concession to global travelers who could book a first-class cabin on the greatest ocean liner ever built (even to this day), the Normandie, at no more than half the price. Guillaume de Syon, author of a standard book on the zeppelins, points out that the room was extremely popular and travelers would otherwise have been oppressively bored, at least when no land was in sight. An open pack of premium cigarettes was thus a centerpiece of Hindenburg advertisements. Should the passengers have been worried? The hydrogen-buoyed airship had...

PC media censoring wave of Muslim rapes of Swedish girlsQuote: Swedish girls Malin and Amanda were on their way to a party on New Year’s Eve when they were assaulted, raped and beaten half to death by four Somali immigrants. Sweden’s largest newspaper has presented the perpetrators as “two men from Sweden, one from Finland and one from Somalia”, a testimony as to how bad the informal censorship is in stories related to immigration in Sweden. Similar incidents are reported with shocking frequency, to the point where some observers fear that law and order is completely breaking down in the country. The number of rape charges in Sweden has tripled in...

TB & GmailHi, So I was setting up an account for someone who has a gmail account & when it went to DL all the e-mails, it only grabbed e-mails from 2010. I'm not even sure it grabbed them all from that year. I need to get all his e-mails. I tried to search online & only found the instructions to enable all e-mails or something within the gmail settings. I think that was checked & done (it's in Spanish, so it's hard for me to work on his computer) & still no new e-mails. Please advise. Thank you Michelle

Socialist Dependant Trampoline Bear DiesSocialist Dependant Trampoline Bear Dies Quote: Bears are by nature 99 percenters. They are not rich, they grab what they can where they can and they just want to get along and raise their bear families. Occasionally misfortune befalls them and a safety net is needed - as happened to our Boulder, Colorado bear, who found himself disadvantaged and stranded in a tree. Fortunately, the state had its safety net, in the form of a trampoline, standing by. When our Boulder bear finally gave up on life and dropped from the tree, he was saved by the government trampoline, albeit with a few bumps and...

Writing a driver (or paying someone to do so)I have a Mark of the Unicorn MIDI Express XT. This has no driver for Linux, but I no longer use Windows for anything except games, and I do not have or wish to acquire a Mac. I like to use what I have if I can, so... what would it take to get someone to write or reverse-engineer a driver? What could I expect to pay someone to do this? I would really like to use this interface in my Linux audio setup when I run out of ports on my AMT8. If a reasonable payment is beyond my means, do you think someone would do it for the fame? I believe there are quite a few people who would benefit from this, so...

[R*censored*]Romney denounces intolerance, except when he isQuote: Romney Camp Brags About Denouncing Intolerance, But Not Of Gay Former Advisor In a week full of nervy moves by the Mitt Romney campaign, the most shameless display of balls since New Year’s Eve has gone virtually unnoticed. The presumptive Republican nominee has taken a lot of criticism for failing to denounce the anti-gay voices that ostensibly drove openly gay advisor Richard Grenell to quit quit the campaign, Romney senior advisor Eric Fehrnstrom, appearing on Chuck Todd‘s The Daily Rundown, made a hilarious attempt to turn those lemons into lemonade by casting Romney as a warrior...

Actual facts in Zimmerman/Martin case start to emergeBone fide forensic evidence is becoming available. You can find articles for yourself, but the two latest interesting facts to emerge: 1. Zimmerman had injuries to his face and head consistent with being beaten. He had bleeding cuts on the back of his head that paramedics thought would require stitches. His nose was swollen, and he had bruises and abrasions on his cheeks and face. A doctor who examined him the next day said he appeared to have a broken nose. There are photographs and testimony by paramedics, police, and a doctor. 2. Martin had no injuries other than some to his hands,...

A cynical processLabor unions, like the United Nations, are all too often judged by what they are envisioned as being -- not by what they actually are or what they actually do. Quote: Many people, who do not look beyond the vision or the rhetoric to the reality, still think of labor unions as protectors of working people from their employers. And union bosses still employ that kind of rhetoric. However, someone once said, "When I speak I put on a mask, but when I act I must take it off." That mask has been coming off, more and more, especially during the Obama administration, and what is revealed underneath is...

What makes PAM unwanted?Uhm... the title is a little too... wait, IIRC the developers of UNIX authentication themselves advised against PAM as they found that system insecure or not as secure as it should. Or was it FreeBSD maintainers...? Anyway I remember I read there were fellows (whose opinion looked quite enlightened to me) who would never put/advise PAM on their distribution and would instead keep using UNIX legacy authentication, i.e. a hashed password in a flat file. Rather than messing around who could have said that, I'd like to know what PAM features could make it less desirable than UNIX plain...
