Linux Process Control Question

My wife likes to run Facebook flash games in Firefox. Her computer is starting to show its age. Flash crashes regularly, sending the CPU to 100% and making the system completely unusable. This never resolves itself, leaving the only option being a hard reset. I know flash is garbage... I'm not really looking for a solution for flash. Rather, I'd like to contain the problem. I Googled a bit and found suggestions for using renice on /usr/lib/firefox/plugin-container. However, once the problem hits, I can't access it. If I could, I'd just kill the process. Images don't load completely

Before I start explaining, here's an image: ... For some reason, Firefox doesn't load this image completely. I have tried refreshing the image many times over, clearing the cache using Tools > Clear Recent History > Clear Now - with everything tick marked, starting Firefox in safe mode, restarting my pc, but it doesn't load. This is not even the only image that has shown this problem. A few other images have done this in the past, with a common characteristic among them being a large size. Funny thing is that it doesn't work in Internet Explorer either. I've even tried using it in another pc...

New E-Mail Password, Thunderbird Hangs

I looked at this thread before deciding to post. I thought that OP's method was a bit too draconian I am having the exact same problem - new e-mail password, Thunderbird recognizes that, but does not recover so I can enter my new password. Hi everyone, I have a gentoo/tor/xchat/sasl/freenode related problem and by the process of elimination have narrowed it down to a gentoo/tor problem (because my ubuntu/tor/xchat/sasl/freenode setup works). Firefox Process won't End

Hello, I've been having an issue recently, where when I close Firefox, the process remains active and will only end when I physically kill the process from the task manager. I've no idea why this has started to happen. I've been reading all over the internet on how to resolve this and tried everything but it just won't end on it's own. I've also tried all different kinds of spyware scanners and my own Kaspersky suite and nothing was found at all, apart from some tracking cookies but everyone gets them... I'm at my wits end and have no idea where to go from here. I really need it to start...

[SOLVED]refresh rate too high for moniter

After installing gentoo, I turned it on and booted into gentoo. When I started it, I saw some text and then the text disappeared and then my moniter came with an error message. The error message was "Out of range". My monitor is a ViewSonic VA902b. Is there anyway to configure gentoo to boot with a selected refresh rate and resolution? Mkinitcpio-0.8.8 gentoo port(modular initrd generation tool)

Hello gentoo forum, after I read the neddy guide on udev 182, I start a thread on initrd creation for people eg running root on LVM with seperate /usr and/or /var partition. See ... for details. For this, I use arch linux's mkinitcpio tool, which works on arch like a charm. It is in my opinion easy to set up, and atm a superior solution to genkernel. The gentoo genkernel created initrd does not work that well for me, because I found that genkernel does not include the udev demon in the initrd. Hi! I'm trying to fix an issue for veryl ong time but without success. I would be very thnakfully for any help with my problem. I'm using funtoo with standard kernel (sysrescue-std) build with genkernel. I've installed nvidia-drivers (295.40) and everything seems to emerge good.
