Kdepimlibs-4.8.2, kgpg-4.8.2 emerge failures

So, like, I'm trying to (re)emerge my kde packages, and everything went fine but for kdepimlibs and kgpg. Thing is, I'm having trouble figuring out exactly what the failure is from the logs I see. I know a bunch of includes and header files on my system got corrupted last week, and I'm still sorting them all out (long story). But here's what I get when I try to emerge kdepimlibs-4.8.2: Code: >>> Source configured. >>> Compiling source in /var/tmp/portage/kde-base/kdepimlibs-4.8.2/work/kdepimlibs-4.8.2 ... >>> Working in BUILD_DIR: "/var/tmp/portage/kde-base/kdepimlibs-4.8.2/work/kdepimlibs-4.8...

Fix permissions on your files copied from NTFS

Whenever you copy anything from an NTFS mounted drive to your hd under Linux, the permissions are all screwed up. Here's an alias I use called 'fixntfs' which scans from the directory you're in, and covers everything under that to make the file permissions "normal" alias fixntfs='find . -type f -print0 | xargs -0 chmod 644; find . -type d -print0 | xargs -0 chmod 755' steve _________________ If it ain't broke, tweak it. packages | planet | blog | home

Gnome-scan-0.7.2 fails to compile

With the following output: Code: checking for GNOME_SCAN... no configure: error: Package requirements (gmodule-2.0 gthread-2.0 gobject-2.0 > 2.14 gtk+-2.0 >= 2.12 gegl >= 0.0.21 gconf-2.0 ) were not met: No package 'gegl' found Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix. Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GNOME_SCAN_CFLAGS and GNOME_SCAN_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details. !!! Jump Beacons

AP of course. Vanilla. So I"ve been hunting Rapid Response ships off and on for about the last month. After I just did about a 2 hour jumpathon to scan every RR I could see in my vast Adv Sat network (Currently 502 Adv Sats scattered across most sectors), I still never found a single ship with a JB on it. I've never seen a terran/ATF ship labeled "Rapid Response" so I even just went scanning wild on their m6/m7/m8/m2/m1's in both warzone and regular Terran space. In fact, enough to lose about 1/2 a rank from illegal scans. So am I just SOL on jump beacons? Should I "accidentally" blow up some...

Problems with Gmail

I have a PC from a friend with a perculiar problem, and I am not too sure that it is related to Thunderbird... I do not use an email client! The problem is as follows; Open Thunderbird, and emails are retreaved from the Gmail server (or so it seems). Double click on an eamil in the in-box and it opens in a new window (so far so good). Now, if you click on any of the content, within the new window, the hour glass appears next to the mouse pointer and continues to indicate activity continously (it is as though data is being sent to someome and Thunderbird is awaitng a reply (which it does not...

PDF Attachments cannot be opened by receipent

I am using Thunderbird 12.0.1 and the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. I have had 2 similar problems - when I get an email with a PDF attachment, if I forward it, many times the receipent cannot open the attachment OR if I scan a document as a pdf and attach it to an email the receipent cannot open it. However when I log into gmail and go to my sent mail folders, I can open the attachment just fine. Or if I send the attachment via gmail there aren't any problems on the receiving end. What could be causing this? Thanks!

Efficiently use a live blacklist feed in iptables (w/ ipset)

[Edit: Nov. 2011: Updated the 3 main scripts to ipset-6 syntax] Background on ipset (if you're familiar with it, skip this): I'm not affiliated with the netfilter team. I'm writing this simply because there's not much instructive documentation (e.g. tutorials, how-tos) available pertaining to the use of ipsets, so I'm sharing what I've learned by playing with it, hopefully it will save people some time. ipset is an extremely useful plugin to iptables, particularly if you want to have a firewall rule that matches against a large set of addresses and/or ports, or if you want to dynamically...

Rand Paul begins campaign to end TSA

Rand Paul Launches Campaign to End the TSA Quote: New legislation would abolish government involvement in airport security Senator Rand Paul has issued a press release in which he vows to lead the charge to “end the TSA” and put a stop to the needless and humiliating groping of toddlers and grandmothers. Earlier this year, Paul was detained by the TSA after refusing to submit to an invasive pat down after already having passed through a body scanner. The incident prompted national headlines and caused the Senator to miss his flight. “It’s time to END the TSA and get the government’s hands back...

Virus scan reports infection in message xyz within mbox file

The scan by Bitdefender reports for some mbox files an infection. The report only refers to "message " in affected mbox file. number> equals for example 177. The mail box file includes plenty of emails, so there exists a good chance that message numbered 177 exists. However, how to find message 177 when viewing mbox in asci editor/viewer? Headers don't seem to include appropriate field where numbers like above are visible as plain text.
