Kword text not always appearing...

I have the latest version of KWord and as long as I can remember it's had issues either taking input or displaying text after the first few pages (it will display if you highlight it). It seems if you load a document twice it will display properly. Has anyone had similar problems?

Firefox - Fonts print terribly [Solved]

Hi, I have had this problem for some time, and I figured that it would eventually work itself out after a few emerge world's. It has been over a year, and the problem still persists. The problems seemed to appear after we left the 3.x versions of firefox. I'm now on 8.1. My pages render fine on the screen, the fonts look good (reasonably so at least, the anti aliasing could be a little better). The problem is that when I print, they always come up looking extremely pixelated, and barely legible (depending upon the size of the font). Helvetica is a definite problem, though it may not be the...

Virus in Firefox

I had a computer virus that was redirecting searches to bogus pages in Firefox 5-something. I've done everything I can think of to get rid of it, including upgrading to Firefox 10 -- and I'm still getting redirected in my searches to, mainly to askthecrew.net. Can anyone suggest how I can get rid of this?

64bit machie

Hello, I'm asking this for my cousin, who posted this over on the Ubuntu forums, but thought I'd try here also. Here is the issue cousin is having. This either has to be Seamonkey corrupting the user profile or Firefox gets corrupted after installing Seamonkey. BOTH/EITHER will CONTINUE crashing constantly even after TOTALLY removing both and installing one or the other again. Makes both browsers and OS useless!! Here is cousins question: is it possible to use a 64bit machine and a mozilla based browser without it CONSTANTLY crashing? 2 machines i've had now in the last week WILL NOT work with...

IMPORT AFTER RELOAD & UPGRADE

Hello. I've only just upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. At the same time, I also switched Internet providers. Now I'm thinking that was too much at once. A longtime Firefox fan, I've never used Thunderbird. Now, however, after the ugly churning feeling I got in the pit of my stomach after my first attempt at using Windows Live Mail, I feel it is time to make the switch—but there's a problem. In Vista, all my emails were stored in its "Email Store Folder" which, thankfully, I had on a separate partition. Now that I have a new internet provider, however, my only access to years of old emails is...

Slim, X, xfce or xscreensaver crash

Hi, I had just firefox and a terminal open when X became unresponsive. I could not get back to firefox, but still could switch desktops (but not start new programs there). I could also not scroll or close the terminal window. But I could still type things into the terminal. After typing sudo reboot everything froze but did not reboot. Here is the log of the last two sessions (an excerpt from /var/log/slim.log). During the first of those the system became unresponsive. But in the second one there is also an error, which appeared in the first as well. Does anyone have an idea where to start to...

Meowzy's Action Replay Pictures (17th June)

For those who don't know, Action Replay is this cheat device thingie. For more info, check out Kyasarin and Suki_hearts_Genis' 'Request Pictures' topic. After successfully using it on both the American and the European version of ToS, I've come up with a few wonderful screenshots of how you can molest the game. ~~~~~ First up ; The Testfield, where you can run around as NPC's and all sorts of fun stuff like that. I had to use the US version for this. ... Forcysty and Pronyma! (horrible quality though...) ... The Sage family during their summer holiday in... Eh... Triet. ... Guess who? It's the...

Pages not reloading and losing their URLs on manual reload

When I start Firefox some pages are shown as "stopped". The URL shows in the URL bar and the page title is in the tab bar. But F5 doesn't reload or cause any action, page info shows the "real" URL as "about:blank", and if I right click the tab and choose reload from the tab menu I get a "New tab" with no history and can't get back the lost one (it isn't in "closed tab history" either). Oddly, if I use TabGroups Manager "Reload entire group" it reloads it fine, perhaps it's using the URL in the URL bar before it's "lost". In an effort to solve this I set Tab Mix Plus to reload all tabs on...

I went to add a new contact in my address book and filled in everything but when I went looking for the STATE, it is not there. County is there. Country is there but not STATE. What nvidia-settings with nvidia-drivers-96.43.14 [SOLVED]

I'm recompiling world with gcc 4.4.3 (still not sure if I need to on 32 bit x86...but I digress...). I'm having problems compiling nvidia-settings. I actually have newer versions of it masked, but before I look into that issue one thing's always confused me: I have an old GeForce card that requires 96.43.14 (or 96.43.16) which are in portage. There's nothing in portage for nvidia-settings except the newer versions. Does anyone know what version of that I should be using? I currently have everything newer than nvidia-settings-... masked only because it worked any I had no clue what I was...

Strange GDM keyboard layout problem

I've got a rather strange problem with my german keyboard layout in gdm - and no, this is not one of the many where you have to add a Section "InputClass" into your xorg.conf.d, because I've done all this and it was working fine for years. Since I had to replace my old keyboard my gdm layout for the new (german) keyboard is "us". I've not changed anything in my config files and my old keyboard is still "de". The old one was a Cordless Desktop MX attached via PS/2 - the new one is a MX5500 Rev attached via USB. But even when use my old keyboard on the USB port it will work as german keyboard....
